Community Emergency Response Team Training

Delhi Township CERT will be offering the eight unit training for those who may wish to become members of CERT at the Delhi Township Fire Headquarters on Neeb Road during two weekends in March. CERT – Community Emergency Response Team is a FEMA based organization that is organized to provide assistance in a disaster or other emergency as well as participate in programs that benefit the community.

The CERT training prepares individuals to be self sufficient during an emergency and, also, to be prepared to assist others and support the emergency response agencies within a community. All citizens are welcome to participate in the training and if they complete the entire training they may be eligible to become a member of CERT.

The first training session – Preparedness – will provide those who attend information on how to be prepared to address natural and man made disasters and emergencies.  Subsequent training units cover fire safety and fire extinguishment, emergency procedures related to first aid, basic search and rescue procedures, psychological “first aid” designed to assist victims of a disaster and the last unit addresses terrorism related issues.   These topics are presented specifically and individually in each of the eight units that make up the full training.

The schedule for the training is attached CERT TRAINING SCHEDULE 2017. Interested individuals may attend any one or all of the training sessions which will be presented at the Delhi Fire Department, Neeb Road station on March 11-12 and March 18-19. See schedule for times. No RSVP is required.

Those who attend all eight of the sessions and participate in the practice that will follow  each session may be eligible to become a member of the Delhi Township CERT.
