By law, the Census Bureau must deliver each state’s population total to the president by December 31st of this year. An accurate count of the population serves as the basis for fair political representation and determines the amount of Federal and State funding dollars available to a community to enhance the quality of life of its citizens.
It is now more important than ever for our community to be represented correctly in the 2020 Census count. Our goal is to have 100% participation! As of April 21, 2020, only 66.9% of households in our community have completed and returned their forms.
Starting June 1, 2020, Census field staff will begin making door-to-door visits to households that have NOT submitted their census. If you have not, please consider doing so now online at https://www.census.gov/ to expedite the process and to avoid a visit from Census field staff.
