Several residents have contacted our office with questions and concerns about the overpopulation of deer in our community. The management and control of the deer population is not a function of the Township and hunting is not permitted in Delhi’s park system.
To better manage and control the deer population in communities located in Hamilton County, Great Parks of Hamilton County established their Deer Management Program in 2003, which includes a lottery deer hunt in most Hamilton County parks. The application process for this season is closed and sessions are underway.
The most important thing we can do for the long-term health of the deer population is to keep them dependent on their natural food source. Please remember that deer are wild animals and we should refrain from feeding them.
