Plan the Pike! – Delhi Township Strategic Redevelopment Plan August Public Engagement Meeting Results

Delhi Township released its draft redevelopment plan at the Plan the Pike open house at the Delhi Park Lodge on August 27. Over forty-five residents and stakeholders of the community attended the meeting to hear details of the draft urban design framework that lays out a vision for Delhi Pike for the next twenty years. Attendees also assisted with the final stages of the planning process, giving input on a number of strategies and implementation actions to enhance the public realm, guide the form of new development, create green places, and build sustainable infrastructure.

The vision for Delhi Pike includes new development with ground-level neighborhood services retail and a variety of residential options in response to unmet market demand for a mix of quality, market-rate apartments and townhomes. The selection of the first development projects is significant to the overall success of the plan, as successful initial projects can trigger a chain reaction of complementary development throughout the study area. The following locations were identified at the meeting as two priority redevelopment sites for Delhi Township: the Remke Market site and the former Central Hardware site. The focus is now on finding financially viable projects to transform the aesthetic and usage of Delhi Pike. The Township is engaged in ongoing discussions with potential developers and businesses who have expressed interest in these sites.

Work on the Plan the Pike project will continue as Delhi Township and Stantec Urban Places Group finalize the redevelopment plan and market the community’s assets to interested developers. The final plan is expected to be released and presented to the public this November. Thanks to everyone for supporting this redevelopment effort and for providing input over the past several months.

Delhi Township is pleased to share the draft framework with the community. A video of the August 27 open house presentation and the draft plan is currently available for public view on the Township’s website (see following link).
